   , flack
   (flak) [German acronym, from Fliegerabwehrkanonen: antiaircraft gun] In North American usage, antiaircraft fire, particularly in the form of explosions that spread fragments of steel in front of an airplane in combat. By extension, verbal abuse or hostile criticism.
   Such a decision by management was bound to produce some flak and fallout.
